Kuala Lumpur - Nasi Lemak Wanjo and Nasi Lemak Leman'jah
Nasi Lemak is a quintessential Malaysian meal, and we've had it a couple of times already on this visit to Kuala Lumpur.
Our first stop was to revisit Nasi Lemak Wanjo.
The basis of Nasi Lemak is the coconut rice, ikan bilis (tiny, whole fried fish), and sambal. You typically add an egg and a protein or two. We got two different plates. One with a fried egg, fried chicken and cockles (kerang).
The other with hardboild egg, chicken rendang, and squid (sotong). Both were very good.
Another morning, we stopped in at another spot we'd seen while walking through Kampung Baru - Nasi Lemak Leman'jah ("The Boss"). This place was smaller, and more of a local-feeling joint than Wanjo.
We got one plate with chicken rendang.
And another with "spicy" chicken. Both were great. We prefered the sambal here to Wanjo, as it was less sweet. Another nice touch was the little bit of water spinach (kangkung) on the plate.
This was a very pleasant place for a meal - the owners were super nice.
