Taipei - Lu Rou Fan at Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice

Not far from our Gua Bao snack at Lan Jia we stopped in for a second mini-lunch at another famous shop - Lu Rou Fan (braised pork rice) at Jin Feng.

This dish is a famous Taiwanese staple - braised pork belly sliced up and served over rice with some of the cooking liquid added.

They have three sizes of bowls - we opted for the medium size, which ended up being perfect. We also gilded the lily a bit by ordering a bowl with whole slices of pork belly. Both bowls came with some pickled bitter melon and the bowl with the larger chunks of belly also had some bamboo shoots.

We offset the fatty pork a bit with an order of morning glory greens.

Everything was really tasty. The first bite of the sliced up pork belly and rice was probably the most satisfying single bite of food I had in Taipei.
