Pizza Port in Ocean Beach

Pizza Port in Ocean Beach

Update: Pizza Port Ocean Beach is now open!

Why am I posting a picture of a partially constructed building? Because Port Brewing, one of our favorite local brewers, is opening a location in Ocean Beach - just down the coast from us.

I first heard rumors about the new location (on Bacon Street - where an old Boll Weevil used to be) about a year ago. Construction was stalled for quite some time (issues with their liquor license, I think), but they now appear to be moving full speed ahead. We took a bike ride down to OB yesterday to have lunch at Newport Pizza, and snapped the above photo.

To say that we're looking forward to the opening would be an understatement.

Update (3/15/2010): We went by today and they are looking pretty much done with the exterior. More importantly, you can see that they've got their brewing equipment installed!

  1. Woohoo! I rarely go to the Solana Beach location because it's a haul from North Park. Can't wait for this one to open!

  2. Hi moowiesqrd - same thing for us. The fact that we'll be able to bike to this new location is going to be dangerous... (in a good way!)

  4. Sawyer - definitely stop in to Port if you get a chance. All of the current locations (Solana, Carlsbad and San Clemente) are great places to go.

  6. Hi Sharon - it's definitely going to be quite a bit bigger than Newport. I hope they don't hurt Newport's business too much.

  7. The Port in OB looks awesome so far, I saw that the brewing equipment was put in place. Any idea on an opening date? I called Solana Port and talked with the manager there and they told me April

  12. Shhhh...don't tell too many people about the new Pizza Port in OB. It's going to be hard enough to get a parking spot or even a seat as it is. That being said. Pizza port(OB)will have the highest quality pizza's and and even more creative craft beer here in SD...PERIOD!

  20. Not open yet! My wife, baby and I went for our evening stroll down to the beach and had a chat with the proprietor - Ethan. Sounds like they are just waiting on a little bureaucracy and then they should be good to go. Im looking forward to this!

  21. Just to say....I'm not the proprietor, just got lucky and married into the Pizza Port family.
